Antique Buddhist Burmese Sutra Sarseyko Palm Leaf Paper Manuscript Kammavaca

Burmese (Myanmar today)
Buddhist Sutra with indigo blue and cream colored Sarseyko ribbon and a hand woven fabric presentation cover. This Palm Leaf Paper Manuscript (Kammavaca) was often given as a gift to a Vihara (Buddhist monastery)
by the family of a new student. It was wrapped in the hand woven cloth and tied with the sarseyko. The sarseyko were woven by both ladies of rank, as well as professional weavers. The palm leaf pages are gilded on one side and bound with two pieces of carved wood painted orange and two thin wood rods. A volume of these Sutra could consist of one, five or all nine of the khandakas, extracts from the Vinaya Pitaka (the monastic disciplinary code).

Weaving: 22 7/8" long x 17" wide
Palm Leaf pages: 19 1/4" long x 5" wide
2 Orange wood Covers: 19 1/2" long x 2 1/4" wide x 5/8" thick
Sarseyko Ribbon: 112 1/2" long x 1 1/2" wide
Condition:
The 2 wood rods holding the palm leaf pages together are partially broken but do function to hold the manuscript.
There may have once been decorative knobs to lock it all together but they are no longer part of the manuscript.
There are minor soiled areas on the woven fabric.
