Description
Burmese lacquerware pedestal, late 19th Century.This beautiful lacquerware pedestal is from Burma and is constructed from lacquered wood and gilded metal with elaborate golden decoration with coloured glass.
Such a pedestal was used as a stand for special and elaborate betel boxes, often for ceremonial use.
A scarce find in the UK.
Condition is good overall.
Structurally sound but with old wear and general ageing.
Crack surrounding base of central stand, but is all structurally sound.
